प्रिय विद्यार्थियों, एसएससी सीजीएल टीयर -1 2017 परीक्षा 5 अगस्त से 24 अगस्त 2017 तक होगी. कभी-कभी एसएससी सीजीएल में, शब्दावली से संबंधित प्रश्न दोहराए जाते हैं, इसलिए आपको एसएससी अड्डा में सभी शब्दावलियों और पिछले वर्ष के शब्दकोष प्रश्नों को संशोधित करने की आवश्यकता है. समाचार पत्र या उपन्यास पढ़ना जारी रखें. आपकी पढ़ने की आदत काफी बदलाव ला सकती है यदि आप एसएससी परीक्षा के लिए एक अख़बार नहीं पढ़ पा रहे हैं, तो यहां हम हिंदू अखबार के संपादकीय के आधार पर शब्दकोष शब्द प्रदान कर रहे हैं.

1.Bolster (noun)/ गोल तकिया
Meaning: a long, thick pillow that is placed under other pillows for support.
Synonyms: pillow, cushion, pad, support, rest
Example: His presence is marked in the house in the form of a mattress (and on top of it a pillow, bolster and his walking stick), surrounded by three charkhas, three pairs of slippers, a lantern and a tumbler — they are all preserved. Three swords — weapons surrendered to him by rioters — are in a glass case. Photographs of his visit to Noakhali, hit by communal riots, and of his hunger strike in the city, adorn the galleries of the single-storied house.

2.Languish (verb)/ दुर्बल
Meaning: (of a person, animal, or plant) lose or lack vitality; grow weak.
Synonyms: weaken, grow weak, deteriorate, decline, go into a decline.
Example: More people trickled in, almost all of them in their sixties and seventies. Bulbul Sen, a retired school teacher and joint secretary of the Samity, said that without the government’s support, the house languished in obscurity. 

3.Perpetuity (noun)/ नित्यता
Meaning: the state or quality of lasting forever.
Example: Increasing productivity in perpetuity without ecological harm is the need of the hour. In Punjab, and in other Green Revolution States, the water table has gone down and become saline.

4.Ameliorate (verb)/ सुधारना
Meaning: make (something bad or unsatisfactory) better.
Example: We can also declare fertile zones capable of sustaining two to three crops as Special Agricultural Zones, and provide unique facilities to farmers here to ensure food security. Soil health managers should be appointed to monitor and ameliorate the soil conditions in degraded zones and rectify defects like salinity, alkalinity, water logging, etc.

5.Heterogeneous (adjective)/ विजातीय
Meaning: diverse in character or content.
Synonyms: diverse, diversified, varied, varying, miscellaneous, assorted, mixed, sundry, contrasting, disparate, different, differing, divergent, unrelated, variegated, wide-ranging.
Example: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opposition has pandered to the Hindutva agenda to unite one of the most socially heterogeneous States in India while making the Lingayats, a dominant and numerous community, its social anchor. B.S. Yeddyurappa, the leader of this formation, a Lingayat himself, has tried to highlight the grievances of the upper strata of peasantry to reinforce his base of support. 

6.Recalcitrant (adjective)/ अड़ियल
Meaning: having an obstinately uncooperative attitude towards authority or discipline.
Example: The recalcitrant judge It is doubtful if sending Justice Karnan to jail is the most judicious way of restraining him.

7.Pragmatic (adjective)/ व्यावहारिक
Meaning: dealing with things sensibly and realistically in a way that is based on practical rather than theoretical considerations.
Example: Having gone so far as to question his mental soundness, it would have been pragmatic to let things be until his retirement, due in a month.

8.Contumacious (adjective)/ उद्दंड
Meaning: (especially of a defendant's behaviour) stubbornly or wilfully disobedient to authority.
Example: That the only punishment that the highest court could come up with against a sitting high court judge was imprisonment speaks volumes about the total absence of any disciplinary mechanism short of impeachment to deal with contumacious conduct by a member of the higher judiciary.

9.Deadlock (verb)/ गतिरोध
Meaning: cause (a situation or opposing parties) to come to a point where no progress can be made because of fundamental disagreement.
Synonyms: tie, draw, dead heat
Example: During their recent meeting in Germany, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed on the need to resume India-European Union (EU) free trade agreement (FTA) talks. These negotiations, covering trade, investment protection and intellectual property, have remained deadlocked since 2013.

10.Purport (verb)/ दावा करना 
Meaning: appear to be or do something, especially falsely.
Synonyms: claim, lay claim, profess, pretend.
Example: The court’s gag order on the media from reporting Justice Karnan’s  purported orders and comments only adds to the sense of unease about the whole episode.
